A Tough Ddu for Tom
By TMX Archives on 12th Nov 09

STEVE Ireland's idea to use the Tough One's Little Brother as a warm-up for the main Tough One event in January certainly paid off at the weekend as a star-studded entry graced the start line at Wern Ddu Quarry, near Corwen, North Wales.
Remembrance Sunday was observed with a two-minute silence before racing began, as is always the case with WOR Events scheduled to run on the Sunday nearest to Remembrance Day and there was an eerie stillness around the quarry compared to the mayhem about to be unleashed.
Last year's event developed into a great battle between Paul Edmondson and Tom Sagar, where ‘Eddy' eventually took the win by a single second. This year, the two riders were both out on Suzukis representing the Fast Eddy Suzuki Enduro Team. Tom was on the RMZ290 and Paul ran with the RMZ250, the bikes they used at the ISDE in Portugal.
This year the result was reversed as Tom took control right from the start and built up an unassailable lead as ‘Little Ed' tried to close him down in the final stages.
