IN a thrilling finale to the AMCA MX Championship, Brad O'Leary secured his third consecutive 125cc title while David Campbell snatched a dramatic Open class win after season-long rival Ben Saunders had endured absolute heartache.

Leading the final Open class moto at Nympsfieldand seemingly on his way to the crown, Ben was stopped in his trackswhen the race was red-flagged due to a fallen rival. Because this finalclash was still 35-seconds short of reaching the point at which theresult stood, a rerun was deemed necessary.

In that rerun, while Campbell produced a perfectholeshot, Saunders was brought crashing down to earth in a collisionthat also collected Aaron Poolman and Danny Blakeley. Picking himselfup and restarting last, Ben then accidentally hit his cut-out buttonfurther delaying his recovery. So, at the front a surprised but equallydelighted David Campbell took the win and also the AMCA Open classtitle.

With tension naturally high, Brad O'Leary, PhilMercer and Lee Payne started the event separated by just 20-points inthe race for the 125cc crown. Tension then further increased in theO'Leary camp as Brad seized his number one race bike duringqualification, forcing him to jump aboard a new, unused 2008 machine.Quickly transferring vital components from his damaged mount, Brad thengave his new bike a winning debut as he took victory in a thrillingfirst moto after passing Lee Payne, Aran Agius, Lee Dunham,Richard-Mike Jones, Phil Mercer and the very fast starting Matt Porter.
