WITH no luck at all it would seem, for the second time in as many weeks the elements have had a destructive and final say in the BSMA championship as it was forced to cancel the second day of round three of the Race Spec 'Best of British' series.

Hosted at Pontrilas by the Cotswold SSC, the club managed to rattle through the day one action, getting in two full blocks of racing and a third started, but this really was the calm before the storm.

Everyone awoke to rain on day two, and with a local weather forecast that would have had Noah rushing to find his Ark, reluctantly an early decision was made to get everyone away safely.

In the AMX races, Mark Gunter entered as a support rider but put in three powerhouse performances as he battled against the series top contenders. It was Kirk Richards who ended the meeting as top scorer in the race for the championship points, but Mark, who was first across the line to take the race wins in an emphatic style.

In those first two championship races there were also battling performances from Rob Lewis, Jamie Webb, Dominic Foreman, Luke Blanchard and Tim Truman. Perhaps the highlight and best race of the day came at the start of the unfinished third block of racing as Kirk Richards went down early it was left to Kieran Coburn, Gunter, Webb and Lewis to fight it out in an enthralling four way scrap that went right to the flag.

In the opening Senior 250F race Josh Waterman showed all the grit and determination it takes to win a title as he battled his way back into contention to finish in a cracking second place after an opening lap skirmish with Darren Webster that left both the guys on the deck. In a nail-biting finish Richard McDermott took the chequers superbly with Josh all a bit too close for comfort on his tail.

Josh convincingly won race two with the positions reversed and there were good performances from Jamie Smith, looking fast and smooth with his two third places, and Charlie Evans collecting more valuable points in fourth overall.

In keeping with what we have already seen this season the Senior 125cc guys produced another entertaining sack full of competitive antics which included good performances from Jamie Houghton with two lightning holeshots and a cracking opening race fourth place finish from Lewis Abbott.

Without doubt the best performances came from Lewis Trickett and David Games. Lewis for his first race exploits as he overpowered Will Worden for the win and again got the better of Lewis Tombs in the second race for another impressive 1-2 race card finish.
