BOU SINKS A SIX PACK

SPAINs Toni Bou tied-up his sixth consecutive World Trials Championship for the Repsol Montesa squad in Italy last Sunday, with a hard-fought victory in the penultimate round of the 2012 series in Italy.

Bou surprisingly trailed Sherco's Albert Cabestany by a full dozen marks at the end of the opening lap of 15 sections at Santo Stefano d'Aveto.

But like the great champ he is, Toni clawed his way back to the top over the second loop, as Cabestany dropped to an eventual third.

Takahisa Fujinami had the Repsol Montesa camp over the moon by making it a four-stroke one-two for the squad.

The one-day trial was conducted in sweltering heat with technical sections set in the mountainsides around the town.

The setting for the sections made the event more like an Indoor round, with the
majority of scores being either cleans or fives.

For once, not even Bou himself was immune and on the opening lap had already accrued a total of 16 marks – which included three fives.

Toni then got his act together to drop just two more and end his lap on 18.

Next best after the opening lap were Fujinami, destined for second overall, and – wait for it – Britain's James Dabill who, like Fujigas, dropped just 21 on the factory Beta.

Dibs enjoyed an excellent lap in which he outpointed almost everyone – Bou included – wit the exception being  Cabestany, who was simply in a world of his own.
