Brit of a do

Although current title holder, Belgian Vincent Collet, took overall victory at Norley, Cheshire on Sunday during the British round of the 2013 IMBA MX1 European Championship, two very determined AMCA riders, Clinton Barrs and Lee Dunham, joined him on the podium.

And while Barrs and Dunham starred there were also impressive overall finishes for Shaun Pearce in seventh and Luke Meredith ninth.

For the other Brits at Norley it was to be a day of mixed fortunes, with Chad Yarranton 14th, Lewis Belfield 18th and Stephen Tillotson 20th.

Supporting the main IMBA action was round three of the 2013 AMCA 2T and Veterans Championships, with current kings Adam Harris and Matt Ryder victorious in their respective classes.

With the recent round in the Czech Republic having been cancelled, this was just the second outing for the 2013 IMBA MX1 Championship lads.

And the Brits were naturally in determined mood to make home advantage count and bag a big points haul.

When that gate dropped to signal the start of moto one and the long, fast drag to the opening turn, Clinton Barrs and Lee Dunham were right on the gas as they chased the leading duo of Vincent Collet and Jeroen De Groot.

For Stephen Tillotson and Lewis Belfield, though, it was not such good news as they were both involved in an early
collision.

By lap three Barrs was up into second spot, after Dutchman De Groot suffered an excursion through the track marking rope, dropping him right back down to 24th spot.

As the smooth Collet coasted to victory, Dunham overhauled his fellow Brit Barrs with four laps remaining, to earn a
well-deserved strong second place at the flag.

After losing that place to Dunham, Brisback to fourth as 2011 Champion Jelle Grade found a way through with just two circuits remaining.

After gating tenth, Luke Meredith impressively climbed up the leaderboard for a great sixth, as Shaun Pearce took eighth and Chad Yarranton 13th.

Early fallers Tillotson and Lewis Belfield eventually recovered to finish 17th and 20th respectively.

What a start Meredith made to moto two, leading the charge alongside Collet, although his joy was short-lived following a tough, bar-banging second turn.

Whilst Luke unfortunately fell, Collet cleared off although the Union Jack was still flying high, as Tillotson held third with Pearce sixth ahead of Barrs.

Following a mid-pack start,Dunham was circulating in 11th with fellow AMCA riders Belfield and Yarranton for close company. Although the top three of Collet, De Groot and Davey Janssen controlled proceedings all the way to the flag, there was plenty of movement in the battle for the remaining leaderboard places.
