Desertmartin cancelled - 2021 MXGB

British Motocross Championship Desertmartin
The popular MXGB Desertmartin round has been cancelled with the organisers of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels stating that they are deeply saddened.
A virtual meeting between the Cookstown & District Motocross Club and RHL Activities took place today to discuss the Northern Ireland Government statement around the Covid-19 restrictions.
The decision was made to cancel the Desertmartin round of the Revo MXGB championship which was scheduled to take place on June 20 in Northern Ireland after the update to restrictions in place for outdoor events.
"The Cookstown & District Motocross Club and RHL Activities are deeply saddened not to be holding a round at the popular Desertmartin circuit this year," said a statement.
The update to restrictions means from May 24, there will be some positives for sport with schools being allowed to play competitive fixtures in Northern Ireland. However, the limit of only 500 fans for outdoor events is possibly a financial hurdle for the club and the series.
RHL Activities were vague in their statement but it's likely this could be the stumbling block to the Desertmartin round.
The ACU and RHL have not revealed if a replacement venue will be sought.
It follows the news earlier this week that the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo has been cancelled for 2021, which was due to be held June 3-6. And today, F1 announced the axing of the Turkish GP.
