British Motocross Championship
REVO Husqvarna UKs Dylan Walsh sewed up the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship MX2 title with a powerful display at Landrake Moto Parc on Sunday.
And just to emphasise how dominant the team has been this season, Alvin Ostlund claimed a strong second in the series to complete a 1-2 in Britains premier motocross championship.
Heading to the hard-packed Cornish track with an 18-point lead over Alvin, Dylan just needed to stay out of trouble to clinch the crown but instead the Kiwi came out with all guns blazing.
After topping qualification by almost a second ahead of his Swedish team-mate, Dylan led every lap of the opening 25-minute plus two lap moto and recorded a narrow victory of just over a second ahead of Alvin.
Another great start in race two saw Dylan out front on his FC 250 and after briefly losing the lead on lap two he put on a masterclass to win by 13 seconds and sign off on top with a true champions performance.
Alvin struggled out of the gate in the second moto and was 19th following the opening lap before carving his way forcefully up the field to sixth.
Following eight hard-fought rounds the title goes to Dylan who has remained unbeaten over the last six motos by 31 points from Alvin with their closest rival a further 28 points off the pace.
Team Principal Mark Yates: "Its been an absolutely brilliant day for us. It couldnt have really gone any better what an unbelievable day for the team! Were British champions and we got second place too and we are the first team to give Husqvarna a British title since it became an Austrian brand.
"Dylan was outstanding to come out top in qualification and then win both motos. Hes been a class act. Alvin also rode really well and there was nothing in it in the first race but the second moto was all about Dylan and he led by a country mile.
"Im just so pleased for the whole team. Its been a long, tough season and this has made all the hard work worthwhile. Its been a great year for us in the British championship and Id like to thank everyone whos played a part in our success.
"Weve had incredible support from Husqvarna UK and all our sponsors and product suppliers without them this just wouldnt have happened.
"Im especially pleased for my son, Sam, who has run the team for a large part of the season. This title is as much for him as it is for Dylan.
Dylan Walsh: "Its been a perfect day. Just perfect. I qualified first and got two holeshots.
"In the first race I rode a little bit tight and nervous. In the second one I made a small mistake on the second lap and got passed but I got straight back into the lead and won both motos. It feels great to be British champion.
Alvin Ostlund: "Im a little bit disappointed. Ive been fast all year and had some good races so Im pleased with my riding. I messed up the start in the second race and had to come through the field which was not easy and I went off the track one time.
"My goal was to win the British championship but I should be happy with finishing second. Its been a good season."
