British Motocross Championship Shaun Simpson Foxhill
Shaun Simpson (RFX KTM powered by PAR Homes) strengthened his claim on a place on the British MXoN team with a commanding performance at Foxhill on Sunday where, for the second Maxxis round in a row, he topped qualification and then ran 1-1 in the points-paying races.
The goal was to come in and repeat my Hawkstone performance, win both races and try and cut the margin down, he said.
We came in 49 down and (were) going away 35 down 14 points is a great haul but its not going to be enough at this time of the year with only one round to go.
My starts were not good enough today if I cant get a holeshot at a British then Im going to struggle at GPs. We need to work on those starts for the upcoming races.
Overall it is just nice to be on the top step of the podium again and show people that if it hadnt have been for the disaster at Desertmartin Im still the guy to beat at the British championship.
Shaun is a fan of the revamped Foxhill circuit.
Its nice to see some changes on the track and it was in good fettle because of the rain that weve had.
In qualifying it was quite tacky and a few lines started developing and for the first race it was near on perfect. For the second one it had dried out a little bit but there was still no dust so I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend.
Although hes still a long way behind series leader Tommy Searle (BOS Kawasaki), the Scot hasnt abandoned all hope of a third Maxxis MX1 title.
We wont give up, well keep on working. We have a few GPs in between now and Landrake to keep improving and try and secure a spot on the MXoN team. We are going to have to come into Landrake all guns blazing and win both motos and end the season on a high if its not enough, its not enough.
