Harri Kullas continued his Foxhill winning streak with the overall victory at the second round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels.
Kullas came into Round 2 of the MXGB series just slightly behind where he'd like to be with a fourth-place overall in Culham; it was a steady start to his championship title push, keeping him in the game and perhaps that missed podium allowed him to stay under the radar.
But after winning at the Foxhill track last season, the 30-year-old Estonian came into the races with some confidence. That increased after topping the timing charts to take pole position.
Kullas made the most of his gate pick to grease out of the gate for the holeshot and a dominant wire-to-wire win at one point gapping up to 13 seconds before backing off later in the race.
It wasn't the same story in race two with a poor jump off the line. However, the Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha rider had rocketed his YZ450F to fourth within a few corners. Then, after a few blistering laps, Kullas had fought his way to second but could not make a pass on title rival Tommy Searle. But with the overall win in Harri's pocket, he was happy to settle for second.
"Overall a great day," said Kullas. "Obviously, I need a couple of races in me early season, as I improved a lot from the first round. "I had great qualifying with pole position and then in the first race managed to pull holeshot and control the race from start to finish.
"In the second race, I had an awful start but after a few corners managed to put myself top five. Once I got to second place, I managed to close the gap to Tommy quickly, and we had a great fight till the end of the race, but unfortunately for me, I couldnt make the pass. Still, an overall win is a great day at Foxhill.
"We've had great weeks of training and testing with my team and mechanic, and I'm very grateful to have such good people around me supporting hard work pays off!"
While Searle extends his lead at the top of the MXGB standings, Kullas' efforts have jumped him from fourth in the table to second and he is now just 14 points adrift from the defending MX1 champion with six rounds to go.
The next round of the ACU British Motocross Championship is at Lyng on May 8, which is an event clash with the MXGP of Italy.
