US-based Brit Paul Coates claimed his best finish of the season in Toronto on Saturday night at round three of the Monster Energy Supercross 250cc East championship.
Racing for the Storm Lake Honda team, he ended the Main Event in ninth to add to his 18th-placed finish in Atlanta and 20th in Daytona.
"We finally had a break through,” he said.
"After struggling in the first two Main Events of the year with uncontrollable bike issues the team and I were able to put it together in Toronto and secure my best-ever Ama Pro racing finish.
"The whole day didn't go as smooth as the Main did – I had a couple of offs that hurt our overall qualifying times but I stayed calm and the night show went to plan.
"I didn't get a good start but I was able to navigate my way through the chaos that was going on in the first lap and after that just tried to focus on running consistent laps.
"I'm really happy to be in the top 10 against the world's best SX racers.
"And I hope to take this result into next weekend and keep the ball rolling.”
Paul's in action at round four this Saturday in Detroit where's he hoping to improve on his 17th position in the points standings.
