THOR Blimey! - Duns ready for British Youth Nationals
By TMX Archives on 22nd Jun 17
This weekend, setting up camp at Duns in Scotland, round four of the Thor British Youth Nationals takes place.
In the 65s, expect series leader Wal Beaney (SJP Moto) and top chaser Ollie Colmer (Judd Racing) to once again go head-to-head in a close quarters tussle for supremacy.
In the championship standings, after winning all three rounds so far, Beaney has a 64-point lead over Colmer as a really tight scrap develops behind the leading pair.
Finley Evans currently sits in series third and just 17 points cover all the runners down to Finlay Boxall in seventh.
The closest championship chase of all is to be found in the Small-wheel 85s.
In this one Alfie Jones has a slender 2-point advantage over main rival Vinnie Guthrie.
After Charlie Heyman topped the box at round one it was Guthrie who secured overall victory at rounds two and three.
If Heyman makes a return to the series following the injury he sustained at round two, he could well be the spoiler for both Jones and Guthrie.
Claiming overall victory over Jack Galvin at the previous round, Dominic Lancett now has an 87-point lead in the Big-wheel 85s.
After losing some ground at the previous round, Team Green Kawasaki runner Bobby Bruce will be looking to reassert himself in Scotland, he's in championship second.
Scott Kyle McNicol is just 7 points behind Bruce and he'll surely be relishing this coming battle on home turf. Cullen Scott, Jack Galvin and Lewis Wood round out the top six respectively.
Challenging for the title in the 125s, Calum Mitchell tumbled out of contention at the previous round after winning race one.
He'll be back at round four aiming to recover some lost ground as he now finds himself in championship fifth.
Netting most heat wins with 11 over the three rounds so far, brilliant Rossi Beard is the championship leader.
Beard and Mitchell together have bagged all the heat wins so far.
Drew Anderson moved up into series second at round three, he'll no doubt be flat out looking for his first heat win of the series.
In the Youth Open section, Redline Honda runner Howard Wainwright leads the way with Tom Grimshaw (HCR -Putoline – Yamaha) sitting in second place.
Taking three of the race wins in Ireland together with overall victory at the last round, Wainwright now has a 33-point lead.
Jed Etchells sits in series third.
Expect these three to dominate once again as Ben Clark, Aaron Lee Hanson and Harry Kimber - third to sixth respectively in the championship - try to force their way onto the podium.
