Although only 21 years old Vsevolod Brylyakov or Seva as he is known to friends and team members will start his fifth season in the MX2 world series this weekend!

The young Russian has a long experience of racing as he snatched his first titles in his native country when he was just ten years of age, but this winter he made some vital changes in his training programme to be fully ready for the new season.

"I made some changes to my programme and the people I was working with as I started to work with former GP winner Brian Jorgensen; I recently did some physical tests and we could see the progress since we started our programme together in November.” he revealed.

Last season was his best so far in the World Championship with a 14th position even though, after celebrating his first GP podium in Mexico, the likeable Russian got injured and missed the final part of the season.

"I changed the way I do my physical training and the way I ride the bike. I have been working a lot on my technique as I got a lot of injuries last year so I have concentrated on making my riding a little bit smoother. That has also helped me to gain more speed on the bike as I'm more confident; it's a day-by-day schedule, like a long-term routine, sometimes a little bit boring but that's part of the job,” he added after returning from Spain to test his new GP bike earlier this month.

"I moved to Spain this winter; last year we went to USA but I made the choice of Spain; we found nice hard tracks so we could work a lot on my technique.

I've done everything I could all winter and now I'm just looking forward to see what I can do, just riding and enjoying every moment on the track with the other riders.

I haven't done any pre-season races and I'm looking forward to Qatar; we have a cool bike, great engine, cool settings and I just want to go there and show everyone,” he said.

Brylyakov is now one of the most experienced riders in the series as several riders, including multiple champion Herlings, have moved to the MXGP class.

"I wasn't thinking about Herlings or other big names last year; I was just focused on my riding and trying to get myself better. That's the main thing, that's what you have to think about. I don't think about someone else, about who was second or third in the series last year, I'm just focused on myself, on what I can do, on where I want to be. This year I want to work 100 per cent each lap on the track and just enjoy my riding; but of course I definitely want more podiums. I think all the guys want that.”

So keep an eye on the smiling #18 this season!
