BT doubles up at Daytona

KAWASAKI'S dominance of the 2007 AMA Supercross Series continued at the famous Daytona International Speedway last Friday night as Supercross series leader James Stewart and Pro Circuit teamster Ben Townley both dominated their respective main events to take convincing wins at the roughest, toughest and most famous supercross races of them all.
Stewart was the class of the field in the Supercross class and ledalmost from the drop of the gate to deny second place Ricky Carmichaela sixth Daytona win in his last appearance at the Florida track, whileChad Reed failed to turn his blistering qualifying times into a decentrace as he struggled home a distant third to drop two more points onthe championship leader.
Townley similarly was the rider to beat in the Lites class and aftergrabbing the all important holeshot he only had to fend off the earlyadvances of Honda's Tommy Hahn before steadily pulling away to acomfortable second successive win in front of Hahn and Mike Alessi andjumping up to a remarkable third place in the championship standings,only six points off the pace, despite suffering an opening round DNF.
The big-three of the Supercross class were unanimous in their slatingof the Daytona track, claiming it was one-lined and lacked any flowcompared to previous years, but this did not seem to stop Stewart fromrunning away from the field at an incredible rate of knots in the Main.
