Chad Reed to race MXGP in 2016?

Last night (Wednesday) two-time AMA Supercross champion, Chad Reed caused a bit of a stir on social media when he hinted about making a return to racing in the MXGP for 2016.

This may seem unbelievable, but most people said the same about Ryan Villopoto for 2015.

And Chad is no stranger to the World Motocross Championship. Reed traveled to Europe in 2001 to compete in the FIM World 250ccc Motocross Championships, riding for Jan DeGroot's factory Kawasaki team.

Reed was a revelation aboard his KX250, winning the Grand Prix of Lierop (Netherlands) and eventually finishing the year second to multi-time world champion Mickaël Pichon. He is the first Australian to win a world 250cc GP race!

On Twitter last night Reed stated:

"It's been 15 years since I last raced a MXGP. The mind says yesss lets go race in the sand the body says are you @ning crazy!? @mrstwotwo Europe trip? Got a spare bedroom @marcdereuver @antoniocairoli"

Adding:

" I'm at the end and just want to go and have some fun,  see some friends and fans. Best to be a has been than a never was"

It's probably pie in the sky, but after a tough couple of years for the Aussie, it would be pretty cool to see him over in Europe mixing it up one more time!
