Anticipation for the 2026 VMXdN has stepped up another level following confirmation that the iconic event will move to the picturesque Hawkstone Park circuit in Shropshire. With the most popular meeting on the British motocross calendar now set against a new backdrop, excitement is already at an all-time high ahead of the four-day festival taking place over the August Bank Holiday, August 27-30, 2026.

The first major rider announcement has now been made, with three-time 125cc World Champion Alessio Chiodi confirmed to return. A regular fixture at VMXdN since 2022, the Italian legend - affectionately known as ‘Chicco’ - was part of the Italian squad in 2025 that finished tied on points with Team USA, only to miss out on overall victory after the Americans claimed more race wins across the weekend.

That narrow defeat has clearly left its mark, with word from the paddock suggesting Chiodi is determined not to settle for second place again.

The Yamaha Ambassador will once again race the DocWob-built 2002 YZ250 he campaigned in 2025, but for Hawkstone the machine will appear in a special Rinaldi factory Yamaha livery. Chiodi will also retain the services of his trusted mechanic Sonnie Mee Harris, ensuring continuity and familiarity within the DocWob race marquee.

A firm fan favourite, Chiodi remains one of the most exciting riders to watch, known for his aggressive and attacking riding style. Off the bike, he is equally popular for his approachable nature, always happy to chat with fans and pose for photos throughout the weekend.

The VMXdN weekend gets underway when the gates open at 12 noon on Thursday, August 27. Fans will be able to soak up the atmosphere well before racing begins, with an extensive trade village, open paddock access, a track walk - with Hawkstone’s famous gradient not to be underestimated - and the ever-popular Show’N’Shine on Friday, a must-see showcase for two-stroke enthusiasts.

Racing action kicks off on Saturday morning, when legends of the sport, past and present, from around the globe will line up to go bar-to-bar in a celebration of the golden era of 1990s motocross.

With something for fans of all ages, VMXdN continues to cement its status as the ultimate motocross festival. Spectator tickets and camping passes are on sale now, with camping availability limited and selling fast.
