JAMES Dabill is the 2009 ACU British Solo Trials Champion. The Gas Gas UK rider bagged his first ever British Adult title in the final round in Kent on Sunday when he nailed the win, his sixth in the eight round series, which ensured a 15-point title winning margin over his friend and rival, Sherco factory rider Michael Brown.

The 2009 ACU Events sponsored Championships came to a close on Sunday after seven-months of keen competition. The series opened up in March at Scarborough and finished in great style at the weekend at the Kent Trial, co-organised by the Wickham and Kent Youth Clubs, who were new to running events at this level. But what a great job they did. The set-up looked fantastic and the organisers were rewarded by a first rate spectator attendance with the crowd staying on right up-to and including the presentation.

Coming into the event, Dabill was the clear favourite to secure the Championship, but he still needed points to keep ‘Browny' in second place.

In the Expert A group, Sam Connor had already taken the title and he made a step back up to ride the Championship course, something he has looked more than capable of all season. The Expert B class was the one where anything could still happen between Scorpa riders Sam Ludgate and John Crinson. John needed the win with Sam preferably third – but would it turn out that way?
