GOING into the final round of the IMBA MX1 European Championship at Kleinhau, Germany on Sunday, home rider Frank Jansen-Teitz held a very slender three-point advantage over Dutchman Heikki van den Berg, therider who had led the title chase right up until the penultimate meeting of the series.

However, ensuring that there was to be no title showdown, Jansen-Teitz then proceeded to produce a brilliant motocross masterclass by recording three stunning wins and thus retain his IMBA MX1 crown. Indeed in the final table, Jansen-Teitz had actually stretched his eventual victory margin to 56 points with Belgian Davit Cools in third.

For the Brits though, Sunday's final round was to not be at all productive as falls and mechanical gremlins pushed our riders back down the leaderboard.

Top finisher on the day was Richard Meakin in a super joint seventh position, with David Campbell tenth, Brad O'Leary 18th and debutant David Hopkins a gutsy 21st.
