IN a close-run finish with just six marks eventually separating the top three, James Dabill got the better of Michael Brown and Dougie Lampkin to win the 100th anniversary edition of The Scott Trial in the Yorkshire Dales last Saturday.
And with local ace Jonathan Richardson next in line only a dozen marks or so in arrears, the top four finishers were all previous Scott winners.
However, none of the quartet set Standard Time – that honour went to John Sunter who circulated the course around 20 seconds faster than Richardson.
The 2014 Scott was a superb day's sport, perfectly fitting to mark such a milestone for the time and observation epic, that provided an action-packed, thrill-a-minute, fast-paced event for riders, officials and spectators alike.
And with Scott fans turning out in their thousands it was a very busy Yorkshire Dales during the hours of daylight on Saturday.
