Dan's feeling 17 again
By TMX Archives on 6th Jul 07
HARD to believe but Dan Thorpe, uncrowned supremo of British one-day trials, has had to wait eight years for his second win in the Manchester 17 club's Dave Rowland Trophy Trial but he did it on Sunday, although only by virtue of cleaning more sections than 2006 winner Chris Pearson!
And if either of them had even coughed, Liam Walker would have been straight in and grabbed the coveted award because after 40 cracking sections and one long lap, Liam lost out on a triple tie-breaker, by a dab.
Then, out of the blue emerged Clubman winner Simon Levett, from Woodford Halse, to dispatch Kev Hipwell, John Hulme, David Braithwaite and Richard Allen, even though Hippers and Yoomee were more or less in their own back garden.
The one lapper took in Bemrose and Northern Experts sections and about 30 miles of roadwork plus a 'monsoon' that hit Plantation just as the big guns fired-up.
