Desert Storm!

Motocross

The sixth round of this years BYMX series went bar to bar on the world renowned Desertmartin stage in Northern Ireland. This penultimate championship round always had the real potential for setting up a dramatic finish or two, and following the latest skirmishes thats exactly whats on the cards for the mouthwatering Milton Park September finale.

In the Youth Open class Adam Sterry on the RMJ Academy Honda sensationally won again. Sterry now goes joint top and there is a tantalising three-way battle for the crown.

Meanwhile in the topsy-turvey Big-wheel section Matthew Callaghan fully excelled and won the day, but Brad Todd is the new series leader in another cracking too close to call three-way shootout.

In the other two sections it was pretty much as you were, particularly in the Junior 65cc ranks where Scotland's Alexander Brown ran riot. In a devastating display, classy series leader Brown won all five of his outings as Manxman Jed Etchells threw in a gutsy shift. Etchells gave it his best shot but finished in tow on each occasion.

With third placed man in the series Harry Kimber not making the trip, home based runner Callum Meara together with Oliver Costerdine shared out all the individual bronze finishes, 3-2 in Meara's favour. Irishman Meara claimed third overall and now takes over third in the series too. Costerdine manfully kept it all on track to claim a fighting fourth overall – just getting the better of Adam Dunn and Colin Scott in a close little scrap.

In all four classes there was a large Irish contingent in with the championship racers and Ruairi McKeown just edged out Cameron Turley for the support spoils.
