REIGNING British Trials Champ James Dabill finally eased into the lead of the 2012 series in east Yorkshire on Sunday, after beating first-round winner and early series leader Michael Brown in his own back yard, as round three moved into the famous Low North Park, Harwood Dale. With the amount of wet weather in the country over the preceding week the question was, Who would want to be setting out a British Championship Trial?

That was the task facing Scarborough and DMC though and what the organisers did was to look at no fewer than 22 possible hazards before selecting the final 15 for the event, taking the conditions into account.

Even so it turned out to be a tough day for the majority of the riders in both Championship and Expert series, with the majority of scores, in this no-stop event, exceeding three figures.

The Experts were away first away at 9.30am and they headed out to the first two subs which were furthest away from the car park area.

Nobody from the group cleaned the first hazard although there were a handful of rides for single dabs.

John Crinson, Tom Affleck and James Graham were the only three riders to clean section two, but this hazard was not so bad as the third which was a long uphill muddy gully with rock steps.

Rider after rider made spirited efforts only to fall foul of the last step, before Adam Milner had a superb ride for a dab which really did not look on.

Tom Hick was next best posting a forceful two before exiting the ends card.
