The opening round of Fast Eddys X-treme enduro series at Tong on January 10 is not only the start of the 2016 British Extreme Championship but has now been designated as the opening round of the FIM European Extreme Championship.

This is a terrific boost and will almost certainly attract a host of European riders to the event in addition to plenty of home-grown talent.

The Pro class is expanding rapidly.

David Knight and Graham Jarvis were confirmed as soon as entries opened and they have since been joined by the Eurotek pairing of Paul Bolton and Jonno Richardson, the Hemmingway brothers Dan and Ben, veteran extreme specialist Wayne Braybrook plus Alexz Wigg and Jake Gowan.

The opening round at Tong always attracts a great entry and an even greater crowd of spectators who revel in the fact that they can get involved and be very close to the action all around the course.

The day will follow the usual format, a two-hour morning race for Veterans, Sportsman and Youth riders followed by a two and a half hour afternoon race for Pros, Experts and Clubmen with the awards ceremony straight after the final race.

Starting so early in the new year the Tong event will be a terrific launch pad for the series, which runs until December 2016 finishing in South Wales on December 6.

Round Two will take place at Cowm Quarry on February 7, Round three will be Extreme Ravines at Helmsley on April 24.

Fast Eddy has kept spectator entry fees to last year's level, £10 for adults, £5 for under 16s and under 5s free and there is no charge for parking.

Make a date in your diary for January 10th at Parkwood Offroad, Tong, near Bradford, postcode BD4 0RR. It's going to be spectacular.

Entries are still available by calling 01543 370070 or Kath on 07870 291143. Card payments are available and telephone entries accepted.
