That’s a wrap!

South Somerset MX Club ended its fantastic 2015 season as MCF Elite Youth League and Team Event champions in superb style, with a fantastic presentation at St Audries Bay Holiday Park on November 21.
They were so lucky to have as our star guest, Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki World No.3 MX2 Championship Rider – Max Anstie and what a star he was! After his video introduction, he gave an interview with club Chairman Mark Dowson, where he spoke about his awesome wins in the World Championship, his harrowing crash and injuries at the FIM Motocross of Nations and most influentially, his vital early years riding in Europe and combining it with time off school!
Max then congratulated all our worthy and winning MCF Team Event riders and still smiling and looking cool, he applauded all our inspiring lady riders and then shook hands and commended all our South Somerset stars of the night, as they collected their shiny trophies.
He then agreed to draw out all the prize winners in the raffle, and the lucky lad walking away with a coveted Swegway was small-wheel rider Oliver Kilgour and Rookie rider Matt Clarke winning the nifty BMX - congratulations chaps!
A very special evening was had by all and a true thank you goes to St Audries Bay for looking after us. Massive thanks to Max for doing a fantastic job and not only handing out all the trophies but taking time to chat and sign trophies with the kids and dads and generally being a cool and inspirational chap - the very best of luck to Max riding with the Husqvarna MX2 Factory Team in 2016 from all at South Somerset.
That's it for 2015, another massively successful year for the club, but everyone knows that motocross events could never function without their committee's relentless support; so a big thank you to all our helpers and especially to Wendy Williams, as without her and Paul's crucial commitment over the numerous years and the course of the season, no race event would ever go ahead - here's to 2016 South Somerset Riders!
