Hawkstone to the Maxx

Motocross

Well it's the final round of the 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship and there are two favourites for the titles and two outsiders who could win.

Both Zach Osborne on his Bike It Cosworth Yamaha and Evgeny Bobryshev on his CAS Honda have been dominant throughout the season and are both worthy winners should they succeed in the loamy terrain on Sunday.

But as we all know this is motocross and anything can happen! Who would have bet that the new MX2 World champion Marvin Musquin would have two bike problems at the Nations last weekend!
Jake Nicholls on his HM Plant Red Bull KTM is 45-points behind Osborne, and Stephen Sword on his Buildbase CCM is 33-points behind Bobryshev in the MX1 title race.

Both riders will not give up until the day is done and there is no mathematical chance remaining to win the title.

Other riders like Brad Anderson (PAR Honda) and Jason Dougan (Phoenix Bike It Yamaha) have an outside chance to move up the rankings, but it will take some bad luck for the top runner for that to happen.

It's a similar situation in MX2 with Martin Barr (PAR Honda), Elliot Banks Brown (DB Honda) and Mel Pocock(Bike It Cosworth Yamaha) all close enough to benefit if the front runners should hit problems. The racing will surely go down to the wire, as will all the other riders pushing for a few places higher in the championship standings.

Hawkstone is a track that has to be respected, as it can be an evil venue with demanding bumps that catch riders out in a split second.

All the competitors will be on edge going into Sunday's races.

Spectators are advised to make the most of their visit to the venue by moving around the circuit to view the skill of the riders both on the famous ‘Hawkstone Hill', the ‘Hawkstone Leap' and the ‘Whoop' section.

To date, it has been a good season's racing, with a mix of circuits and Hawkstone is a fitting venue for the final battles.
