ON Sunday the West of England MC hosted the penultimate round of the Remedies Bar Motocross Championship, at Whiteway Barton, near Kingsteignton, which incorporated the Ford Trophy. Water was put on the track in preparation for the meeting and with rain overnight, the track was in prime condition and produced some fast racing.

In Expert Open, John May on his Meredith Suzukiclinched the Remedies Open title, but was unable to take the overall onthe day and the Ford Trophy. That went to Henry Western who had threeconsistent rides.

There was no stopping May in the opener after hehit the front on the opening lap, but there was a good tussle behindhim between Clinton Barrs and Western. Barrs eventually claimed second.

Second time out, Western took an early lead fromJesse Petersen and George Davis, who had a better start in this one,but the two series leaders, May and Jamie Skuse, suffered terriblestarts.

Western stormed away and was untroubled en route to the chequered flag, while Carter just held off Davis to take second.

Ross Sturmey grabbed the hole-shot from May in thefinal encounter, but it wasn't long before May hit the front and was onhis way.

Western went down in the first corner and was lastaway, but gritted his teeth and started a chase through the field. Bythe end of lap three he was up to sixth. Kurt Brain moved into secondon lap three and looked to be pulling away from Sturmey in third, untilon lap five when Brain dropped it and put himself well back.

Western was absolutely flying and moved intosecond on lap six. However, he couldn't catch May in the remainingtime. May secured victory and with it the 2007 Remedies Bar OpenChampionship.
