IT couldn't have been much closer for the premier award in the 2010 Scottish Pre-65 Two-Day Trial with no fewer than three riders contriving, with some brilliant riding that thrilled the many spectators, to lose three marks each over the tho days and 60 sections. The competing trio were last year's winner Paul Heys, previous double-winner, Tony Calvert, and frequent contender Davy Morewood.
This gave the organising Edinburgh and District results team the headache of sorting out the winner and – after much consultation with the rule book – the victor was last year's winner Paul Heys, mounted on his all-black ‘stealth' Triumph Cub. He alone went clean throughout the opening day.
It proved impossible to separate Davy and Tony on observation scores as their losses were identical and eventually Davy was declared second, by the book, as he was riding the larger capacity machine, a 500 Ariel against a 250 Triumph.
Fourth place was taken by top Scottish rider Alan Crayk on his Cotton and fifth by four-times Scottish Six-Days winner Steve Saunders, making his Pre-65 Two-Day debut on a 350 Triumph twin.
