LOVE it or hate it, the Natterjack round of the ACU Edmondson Racing British Enduro Championship is one of the firm favourites for most riders each season.
Hosted by Team REME (the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) at Airstrip, Weavers Down, Longmoor, Hants, the Natterjack boasts some very fun special tests in deep sandy terrain.
Back on top form Beta's Steve Holcombe secured a double victory on both days and won every single special test.
"I've had a perfect weekend undoubtedly the best I have ever ridden,” said Steve.
"I've had so much fun. I can't wait for the final EWC in a couple of weeks.”
Following in the shadows of Steve Holcombe on his little Husqvarna FE 250, Jamie McCanney was pleased to finish second on both days.
"I knew it was going to be tough to keep up in the deep sand but I gave it everything I could and a two-two finish was a surprisingly pleasing result.
"We had a few problems along the way but I'm glad I've kept the championship hopes alive.”
Rounding out the top three, again on both days, and riding with a broken rib from the ISDE, David Knight brought home two third place finishes.
"I've had a hard weekend here at the Natterjack. It's certainly been a challenge,” said Knight.
"I've been on the painkillers all weekend but I'm happy to have been third both days, especially considering I'm riding with a broken rib and torn ligament from the final day at the ISDE.”
In the Expert Class Bradley King was a double victor in front of Jake Subachus and David Herring.
It looks as though the Expert class championship is going to go down to the wire at the final round in just over a month's time at the Muntjac.
Dan Mundell returned to winning ways in the Clubman class and the results remained unchanged over both days of competition, with Alex Walton second from Jordan Ridgeway.
It was an E1 clean sweep at the top of this class with Dan Mundell on his KTM EXC-F 250, Alex Walton on his KTM EXC 125 and Jordan Ridgeway on his Husqvarna TE125.
Katie Walker brought herself out of retirement in the Women's class to take a double win ahead of Glesni Jones and Ellie Cooke.
Absent from this event due to injury, Rhian George was still crowned 2015 ACU Edmondson Racing British Women's Enduro Champion. "Today was the longest day of my life.
"Unable to compete in this weekend's British round due to my knee injuries, there was still a glimmer of hope that I could still win the British Championship,” she said. "My only challenger for the title, Glesni, finished second and this has secured us the championship. "It's a dream come true.”
Richard Hay was the fastest man in the Over 40s and 55-year-old Mark Houson was runner-up in the Over 40 class on both days. Jamie Jenkins was the third placed man on day one and Russell Millwall was third on day two.
In the Over 50s it was the same result on both days, with Gavin Johnson leading the way from Paul Armstrong and Colin Blunt. Daniel Davies won both Saturday and Sunday in the Sportsmen, with
Brett Corbett Griffiths and Jamie Harris rounding out the top three on day one. Pete Nixey and Jamie Harris filled the places on day two.
