Jarvis has Dun' it again

THE Colin Appleyard sponsored British Solo Trials Championship cros-sed the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland for round four of the eight round series, the Lightweight MCC promoted Sammy Miller Trial. Staged at Dunmore Mountain, just outside Ballynahinch, the action was to prove as hot as the day itself with temperatures reaching the high 20's.
Reigning champ Graham Jarvis retained his 100%winning record on the four-stroke Sherco in the 2007 series,heading-off a late charge by Shaun Morris in what turned out to be abattle of nerves and skill as two-times champ Steve Colley wassidelined early on with an ankle injury.
After a relatively easy opener to get the nervesout of the way, it was section two where the top runners started tolose their first marks. Shaun Morris lost five at the relatively easyfirst step before Michael Brown powered the TTT Beta out for a one.Graham Jarvis characteristically held back to record the only clean ofthe first lap while last man to go, Alexz Wigg, lost his footing at thetop of the steep exit and crashed to the bottom, grazing his rightcheek and eye.
Section four proved to be the hardest of the daywith one being the lowest score. A steep undercut step was to take themarks and when Steve Colley's front wheel missed the landing ramp tothe right, he was catapulted over the handlebars. Steve caught hisright ankle between the rear wheel and silencer, twisting it so badlyit caused his retirement. This dropped Steve down to fifth in theseries standings.
Jarvis and Wigg both dabbed here, Morris managed a fighting two and the rest picked up fives.
Brown pulled two marks back at the fearful sectionnine, a steep rock slab exit with no run up to it, by escaping with aone as Jarvis and Morris both footed out for threes. The opening lapended with Jarvis having winkled out a three mark advantage over Morriswith Brown two marks further adrift. This was to be how they ended theday.
