John Moffat quits Scottish ACU post

The Scottish trials world was stunned to learn that John Moffat (54), a director if the Union and chairman of Scottish ACU Trials has quit the governing body.
Moffat had become frustrated at the organisation's "...inability to change, modernise and move with the times.”
Speaking to TMX he explained: "The SACU has completely lost its way; it is in total melt-down and disarray and it is failing miserably in connecting with its member clubs and competitors. It is lacking strong leadership and its higher management is simply past its sell-by date.
"Motorcycle competition is fundamentally a young person's sport, there was simply not enough younger people coming on to the SACU committees and when they did, they were shot down in their efforts by the old guard – myself included.”
John is a well known character in the Scottish motorcycle scene and will continue to be active within his local club, Inverness and District MCC and give his support to major events such as the Scottish Six Days and Scott Trials, where he has become a knowledgeable commentator and auctioneer over the past few years.
TMX has also learned that Sandy Mack – recently appointed as SACU general manager – has also resigned as an SACU employee after only four-weeks in the job. A former RSM in the British Army, Mack is well-known as the refuelling manager of the SSDT and was labelled the man that saved the trial in the events' fuelling crisis in 2003.
Other notable recent resignations include Alan Shand (vice-chairman), former GP rider Stuart Flockhart (SACU Motocross vice-chairman) and Derek Faulds (motocross committee member).
