Jones wasn't Daf

AN overcast Carrog Isa saw a packed start line for the second round of the WOR XC Premiership last Sunday. The hills of North Wales gave the strange phenomenon of a layer cake. The paddock area was clear with good visibility but once riders started the climb to the top of the course there was a band of low cloud, which reduced visibility, yet a few hundred feet higher, at the top of the course there were clear skies and bright sunshine.
All this simply added to the test of Carrog Isa, a classic XC venue with a mixture of tracks, fields, shale climbs and open moorland.
Ben Wootton was hot out of the blocks on his aging Honda crosser and led the race for much of the 2.5 hours but a big crash and long pit stop gave Linc Brewster the chance to forge ahead and take the XC-1 class win with Wootton second and Dave Hope third.
