It was the battle of the Suzukis in the MX1 class at last weekends Hawkstone International at the legendary Shropshire venue.
Yellow teamsters Kevin Strijbos, team-mate Clement Desalle and Glenn Coldenhoff took the three podium positions, with home hero Shaun Simpson just missing out after tieing on points with Coldenhoff.
In the MX2 class Frenchman Jordi Tixier proved why he is world champion, winning both races with style and apparent ease from Aleksander Tonkov, before mixing it with the big bikes in the SuperFinal in conditions he is known not to like.
There was lots of talk on social media before the event about whether or not the club would use Hawkstone's ‘big hill' on safety grounds and some of those discussions became quite heated.
However, come race day it was decided that it would be included on the sandy course – although the early morning fog meant that you could hardly see it anyway.
Thousands of motocross fans turned up on a cold February day and the writing was on the wall at the very start of MX1 qualifying, as the three Suzukis filled the top places, with Desalle beating Coldenhoff and Strijbos leading Tanel Leok and Simpson.
Come the first race, Coldenhoff got the holeshot ahead of Desalle, Simpson, Leok and Strijbos with Brad Anderson sixth
