King of Norfolk is Greedy
By TMX Archives on 22nd Dec 06
THE Maxxis British Outdoor Supercross Championship came to a thrilling final at the Norfolk Arena on Saturday evening with both the MX1 and MX2 class finals producing drama and excitement from the drop of the gate to the fall of the flag.
It proved to be a fitting climax to a brave venture from promoters Keith and Jonathan Chapman who have organised a good series that has the potential to grow into a major addition to the British off-road calendar.
With a full line up of 14 making it through from two heats and a last chance qualifier, the 15 lap MX2 final looked set to be a straight forward victory for PAR Honda's Ashley Greedy, who lapped nearly the entire field at round one.
However, as is often the case in Supercross, there is always an air of unpredictability and as the pack appeared over the first jump on lap one the Welsh youngster was dead last after being forced wide and into the bales at turn one. Daniel Jagielski proved once again that he is the master of the holeshot and managed to power his Suzuki to the front for his few moments of glory before being swallowed up by the chasing hordes.
After the relative disappointment of third place at round one, KTM mounted Steve Bixby was in determined mood and made his intentions clear on lap two as he block passed his way into the lead, with Owen Delaney, and Luke Burton following him through.
