Knight at the Races

With the World Enduro Championship beginning its European tour in a couple of weeks, the second round of the GBXC ACU National Off-Road Championship at Rogers Hill Raceway in Dorset was perfect for the world contenders to hone their skills and Knighter Honda rider, David Knight, did so to perfection with two impressive wins over the weekend.

The Super Sprint competition was the second of four NORC events organised by Paul Edmondson to challenge riders at Extreme, Sprint, XC and Motoduro disciplines throughout the year.

The Manxman had already bagged the first round with his win at Cowm Quarry's Extreme event in January and following his outstanding display in Dorset he is well on the way to adding yet another national title to his long list with two wins out of two so far.

Rogers Hill Raceway provided just the right setting for Sprinting, fast and open in the main with two MX tracks and two woodland sections, which was changed around during the two days.

The woodland sections were very different, one was a normal twisty type, while the other had a proper ‘special test' type challenge as riders had a choice of a very fast line, a fast line or a line which was much easier but much slower.

The very fast line, preferred by all the Pro riders, was straight up a steep thirty-foot cliff face, which looked intimidating until the likes of Knight, McCanney and company shot up as though it were just a slight pimple.

The huge course offered plenty of options over the two days with the main MX course running in reverse on Sunday in addition to a log section added, just for fun by the Fast Eddy crew.

Even though the course increased in size on Sunday, it was actually faster even with the log section included. Saturdays event finished by 2pm, which allowed riders some time for free practice before Sunday's action.
