CURRENT US GNCC series leader David Knight took an important step closer to earning himself an additional $50,000 bonus when he added victory at the second round of the AMA Endurocross series to his winning ride at round one, despite competing with an injured thumb.

With the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute offering a$50,000 prize if any rider tops each of the three rounds, the formerdouble world champion is looking strong to earn the cash if he is ableto complete the treble.

The Red Bull KTM-backed rider made short work ofthe treacherous and technical course inside the Lazy E Arena inGuthrie, Oklahoma, by grabbing the lead on the exit of the first turn.

He then battled for a lap with team-mate David Pearson, before pulling away to a relatively easy win.

Two down and one to go so things are looking good for me now,'' explains Knight.

The final event in Vegas will be the toughest butI'm pretty confident that I can win there as well. My main goal thoughis getting a winning result at the final rounds of the GNCC series.

Damon Huffman, who came out of retirement to ridethe series, took the long road to the runner-up spot, coming from theback of the pack after the start-to-finish second.

Suzuki-mounted Huffman was involved in afirst-turn pile-up with Kawasaki's Ricky Dietrich and was nearly lastwhen Knight and the rest of the pack hit turn two.

Finishing third was Pearson, who actually passedKnight on the second lap, but then took a back-seat to the Manxmanbefore falling at the midway point and giving way to Huffman. ProTrials rider Keith Wineland grabbed fourth position.

The series now heads to Vegas for the finale on November 17, where Knight aims to collect the 50 grand with a win.
