Leatt unveils 2027 5.5 Racewear with new HeatGrip technology

Leatt has unveiled its 2027 5.5 Racewear range, with a new inner-knee material designed to offer more grip, greater durability and less hassle than the traditional leather panels used in motocross pants.
Called HeatGrip, the new material features in Leatt’s latest 5.5 I.K.S. pants and replaces the conventional leather inner-knee panels with a combination of the company’s abrasion- and cut-resistant Deflextion fabric and a heatproof coating.
The result, according to Leatt, is a material that provides more grip than leather in both wet and dry conditions while resisting the drying, cracking and deterioration that can eventually affect leather.
It is also machine washable and requires no special maintenance, while 100 per cent aramid reinforcement is designed to improve resistance to wear from knee braces.
HeatGrip is part of a wider overhaul of Leatt’s 5.5 Racewear, with both the UltraWeld jersey and I.K.S. pants designed around reducing bulk and improving freedom of movement.
The 2027 gear uses a streamlined multi-panel construction, with fewer seams and strategically positioned stretch materials intended to follow the rider’s natural position on the bike. Lightweight fabrics, mesh panels and laser-cut ventilation are also used to increase airflow and help regulate body temperature without sacrificing the durability required for motocross and supercross.
Leatt says the new range is the result of extensive development, athlete feedback and real-world testing, with the aim of creating racewear that is less noticeable while riding and allows greater focus on bike control.
The Moto 5.5 UltraWeld Jersey is priced at £66.99, while the Moto 5.5 I.K.S Pant costs £166.99. Matching 2.5 X Flow gloves are £39.99.
