SCOTT winner in 2002, 27-year-old Repsol Beta rider Michael Phillipson was spectating on Saturday, grounded with a long-standing knee injury.
Michael found out last Thursday that the injury to his right knee had been wrongly diagnosed over four months ago. I underwent a scan last week to check the injury and have been told that it is likely to be a torn cruciate which could mean surgery. I have been having physio treatment for the injury for the last four months, so the news was not welcome at all. I was refereeing a football match this week and twisted the knee running about so I know it is not right.
