Mixed emotions for SJP Moto Husqvarna at Little Silver

The penultimate round of the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Motocross Championship saw the SJP Moto Husqvarna team head to Little Silver in Devon.
The hillside hard pack venue was in great condition which produced some fantastic racing for the top Youth riders in the country.
With two members of the team leading their respective classes everyone was hoping for more great results to put them in a strong position going into the final round.
The weekend started with the qualifying session which saw Reece Jones and Charlie Heyman finishing second fastest with their team mates all finishing around the top 10.
In the 65cc class Reece was looking to continue his strong results and leave Little Silver at the head of the championship.
The weekend didnt start great with a ninth place finish following a crash which saw him struggle to restart the bike. After the tough opening race, Reece produced some strong results to claim three seconds and a race win on Sunday morning to extend his championship lead.
Team mate Archie-Jay Girdham rode a solid weekend to claim sixth overall.
The Small-wheel class saw Billy Askew have a steady weekend. Billy claimed a string of results inside the top 10 as he went 7-6-4-7-7 for seventth overall.
Alongside Billy in the Small-wheels was Lucy Barker and the teams girl racer rode a strong weekend to finish 17th overall.
Lucy will now prepare for the forthcoming Girls National Championship next weekend.
In the Big-wheel class Charlie Heyman was hoping for another strong weekend. The opening two motos on Saturday saw him take a second and a race win.
Charlie continued the fine form on Sunday with another second and a race win, before a costly DNF due to a technical problem on the opening lap left him with a zero point score, dropping him to sixth overall.
As a result Charlies points lead was cut to a narrow margin going into the final round.
Also in the Big-wheel class were Jayden Haigh and James Barker with both riders performing well.
For Jayden it was another positive weekend that included three, top five results to take fifth overall.
For James it was his second round back in the championship and he was quickly regaining his speed in the opening motos before a crash saw him finish 14th and out of the event with a suspected broken collarbone.
The team now head to Landrake for the final round of the championship where they hope to claim the 65cc and Big-wheel 85cc crowns.
Leighton Haigh Team Manager: This weekend has been good for the team on most counts, Archie and Reece both rode well in the 65cc class and Reece has managed to extend his lead even with a ninth place finish.
In the Small-wheels Billy had some good results but struggled to get to grips with the track, while Lucy was also riding well and is looking good going into next weekend Girls National Championship.
In the Big Wheel class James was riding well and had some good rides but a crash in the fourth moto saw him leave with a possible broken collarbone which has been confirmed after a trip to his local hospital, so we wish him all the best.
Jayden also rode great and took fifth overall. For Charlie a DNF in the final moto damaged his overall after two wins and two seconds, the DNF happened on the opening lap and left him with a zero point score and off the podium.
Unfortunately it has cut his championship lead down to just a few points so Landrake is going to much tighter now. We are looking forward to the final round and what will come of it.
