Qualifying Report: Sidecarcross GP 13 Dardon Gueugnon - France
By Tracy Thacker on 8th Sep 19
This weekend the sidecar GP season moved to GP 13 in France. A very technical circuit with many large jumps, some doubles and lots of up and downhill.
The weather was warm and cloudy, perfect racing conditions.
Qualifying races were great again this week, with five British teams qualified for the GP races on Sunday.
In Group A, Hermans /Musset got a great hole-shot going on to take a great win. It was good to see them put last weeks troubles behind them.
Compalati /Chopin held second from Cuche /Cuche but behind top British team Brown /Chamberlain held fourth but were on a charge. With Cuche /Cuche taking a tumble Brown /Chamberlain were able to pass Compalati /Chopin and blast into second place.
Behind, Bax /Stupelis were fighting back from a troubled start they tucked into third and battled hard to catch Brown /Chamberlain but with backmarkers making the job more difficult they had to settle for third.
Compalati /Chopin hung on for fourth just ahead of Heinzer /Betschart.
Kinge /Gray had a safe race battling forward throughout the race to take a brilliant sixth.
Both Group A teams qualified on the front row for the GP races on Sunday.
In Group B, Vanluchene /Van Den Bogaart took a great hole-shot getting an early lead, dominating the race and going on to take a brilliant win.
Wilkinson /Humphrey were third but chased down Santermans /Beleckas and blasted into second place.
Dierckens and stand in passenger Andre Haller took third with Santermans /Beleckas behind, but they were under pressure from J Brown /Millard and the battling rival touched leaving Santermans /Beleckas out of the top five.
J Brown /Millard chased Dierckens /Haller but at the flag settled for fourth.
Cerny /Kunnas had a good race to take fifth just ahead of Varik /Daiders with Moulds /Anthony in seventh.
So five British teams qualified for the GP races, all on the front row it will be interesting racing. And with Bax /Stupelis working hard to hold the championship lead and with it, the red plate, expect to see some good battles. They need to hold an advantage of 50 points at the end of the day to take the championship title.
Keep watching our updates for the GP results on Sunday.
