Monster Mountain in South Wales hosted Round Five of the Motul MXGB ACU British Motocross Championship, where Hayden Statt (RFX 125), Charlie Heyman (MX2 and JMR Under-21), and Jeffrey Herlings (Apico MX1) dominated their respective classes, each securing maximum points.

While neither Statt nor Herlings currently feature at the very front of their championship standings, Heyman’s dominance has propelled him into a commanding 55-point series lead with just three rounds remaining.

After a week of wet weather, conditions improved dramatically, with Sunday’s motos taking place in near-perfect sunshine.

The 125 class opened proceedings with an intense battle in race one between Statt and Harley Marczak, while championship leader Drew Stock followed closely in third. Statt eventually asserted control, while Marczak came under pressure from Stock and washed out in a rut, dropping to third.

Race two unfolded very differently, with Statt leading from start to finish ahead of Joel Winstanley-Dawson. Stock battled past Arthur Moore for third, but the top three positions stabilised after the opening laps.

Overall, Statt claimed the win, with Stock second and Winstanley-Dawson third. Marczak recovered from a poor start in race two to finish seventh, securing fourth overall.

In the championship standings, Stock now leads Marczak by 43 points, while Winstanley-Dawson sits third, a further 47 points adrift.

Two wins in MX2 for Charlie Heyman see him open up a 55-point series lead

Since taking his first-ever British Championship moto win at Preston Docks, Charlie Heyman’s confidence has surged. He dominated both MX2 races at Monster Mountain from the front. In race one, Jamie Keith applied early pressure, but as lapped traffic came into play, Heyman pulled clear, looking composed throughout. Charlie Richmond finished an impressive third ahead of Gyan Doensen, Tommy Searle, and Ollie Colmer.

Richmond grabbed the holeshot in race two, but Heyman quickly took control and managed the race from the front. Behind him, Searle moved into second ahead of Richmond, Joel Rizzi, and Keith.

Second overall for Charlie Richmond - a career-first British Championship podium

Richmond secured a career-first MXGB podium in second overall, with Searle taking third after edging Keith on the second moto tie-breaker. In the standings, Searle sits second, 55 points behind Heyman but 11 ahead of Doensen. A double DNF for Ben Mustoe drops him to fifth, while Richmond moves up to fourth.

In MX1, Herlings was dominant, but it was Conrad Mewse who strengthened his championship position among the regular contenders. Mewse extended his lead over Ben Watson by four points, with the trio finishing 1-2-3 in both motos to lock out the podium.

Jeffrey Herlings had the measure of the MX1 class

Oriol Oliver claimed fourth overall with 4-5 finishes, narrowly beating Taylor Hammal (7-4) and Tristan Purdon (5-6). Adam Sterry marked his return with a consistent 6-7 result.

Mewse now leads the championship on 221 points, just five ahead of Watson on 216. Oliver remains a solid third, 24 points clear of Hammal in fourth. Herlings, despite a perfect win rate across his four motos, sits 10th overall due to limited appearances.
