MX Diary: Simpson's happy with hand healing

Defending champion Shaun Simpson had to settle for third at his home round of the Maxxis on Sunday but the Scot was upbeat with his progress after breaking his hand in Spain at the end of May.
"My injuries were not bothering so much today,” he said, "and I think I was back up to speed but I think my biggest problem today was the lack of riding I have been doing between races. I had a bit of a ride this week just to see where we were with the hand and although it is hurting a bit now I was pleased with my pace.
"A rider in race two really messed up my weekend – as I followed him into a turn to lap him he gassed it to get out of the way but almost stopped mid-corner and I touched his back wheel. I didn't go down but went off the track and had to play catch-up again.”
