Check out what's been going on in and out of the pits this week

Ben Townley will miss the remainder of the season after suffering intestinal injuries when he crashed while testing at Mantova two days after the GP of Lombardy.

The full extent of the Kiwi's injuries first became apparent after his return to his Belgian base where he has been admitted to hospital for observation.

Kevin Strijbos is expected to return from his recent wrist injury at Loket a fortnight from now but Suzuki World is seeking a replacement for Townley for the last six GPs.

Conrad Mewse crashed heavily during practice at Emmen and was taken to the hospital for a check-up. Fortunately the UK teenager has no broken bones but he did sustain severe bruising and withdrew from racing.

The ADAC Masters round at the wooded old school GP track of Bielstein was abandoned after a bike flew into the crowd. Medics tried in vain to save the life of a 28-year-old spectator who was struck by the bike.

Justin Barcia is the first American to be contracted for the Lille SX on November 12-13. The French team is already secure with Dylan Ferrandis, Romain Febvre, Jordi Tixier and Marvin Musquin.
