Demaria and Breugelmans on the podium

This weekend in Latvia, Sven Breugelmans was the man to beat. With a clear fastest chrono in qualifying, Sven was heading for a rerun of his last-years victory here in Kegums.Unfortunatly things didn´t work out as planned in the deep Latvian sand.  During the start of the first race Sven pulled his bike sideways and crashed. He had to return to the pits because his handlebar was bend too much to continue the race.  After the crew fixed the problem he got back into the race with 1 minute delay. Now Sven was on fire and displayed an impressive remonte, resulting in a 7th place finish. Still his exellent performance during the race couldn´t make up for his bad start..

In the second race Sven cornered in 3rd position and quickly moved into leading position. At about halfway into the race he brake-stalled his bike and was passed by Honda-mounted Christian Beggi who had already won the first race. With a 10 second delay Sven restarted in hot persuit of Beggi and wheeled him in to finish with a 14 second lead over Beggi at the checkered flag. A clear victory for Sven in the second race.

Sven´s short comment;"I put down a strong performance here today, and I am very happy with the fantastic performance of my KTM.The desastrous 1st.race-start however cost me the victory here in Kegums".With two 3rd place results today, Yves Demaria looks like he is starting to consolidate his championship lead. With two GP´s to go Yves has a 24 point lead, and all he has to do is to stick like glue to runner-up Sven. At least today Yves´ mission was succesfull with him even "stealing" one extra point from Sven.

The knee-injury from Markelo is still a factor and Yves was willing to "grant" Italian Beggi the overall victory because Beggi is no threat to Yves at this point.Honda-rider Beggi has been op the podium for 5 out of the last 6 GP´s and winning 3.
With two GP´s to go the "Honda attack" comes too little too late to break KTM domination in the world championship MX-3.

European Championship MX-2 Kegums Latvia.
Kegums was the last event in the 2006 European MX-2 championship-series. As expected was Van Gerwen-Yamaha rider Dennis Verbruggen crowned as the new champion,as he was only in need for one point in Kegums to claim the championship. The sympathic Verbruggen also won the event with a 3rd and 1st place podium and will step up to MX-2 GP coming season. Verbruggen however also had sleepless nights as JMJunior- Steven Frossard and JM-RedBull-Rider Joel Roelants breathing down his neck all season. Today Yamaha got sandwiched by KTM on the podium  as Joel and Steven claimed 2nd and 3rd position overall.  A fantastic performance from our youngsters!, completed by a strong riding Bram Oosterbosch who piloted his JMJunior 250 SXS-F to 9th position overall for the day. Yentel Martens claimed a solid 15 th position in Kegums.Good progress for Yentel who was riding amateur ranks even last year..

In the final championship-standings, Steven Frossard, Joel Roelants and Bram Oosterbosch take in 2nd, 3rd and 17th position. From last year´s struggle to even qualify to the top of the european ranks now is a tremendous achievement from our guys. Time is on their side, we hope this is just the start of more beautful things to come for JMRacing. As icing on the cake, our youngsters have been allowed to enter the MX2-GP´s of Loket, Namur, Lierop, and Ernee. A fantastic opportunity to get a taste of life in the fast lane of MX-2. We´ll keep you informed..
