Conrad Mewse: Further injury discovered - requires surgery
By Team TMX on 10th May 19
Following last weekends third round of the 2019 British Maxxis Motocross Championship at Canada Heights, Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee rider Conrad Mewse sustained an injury to his wrist in the second moto.
This caused a DNF, and immediately after the incident Mewse headed west for treatment at Bath Hospital. The diagnosis from the hospital was that Mewses wrist was found to be dislocated. This was re-set on Sunday evening.
However, further consideration of his scans by a specialist surgeon has shown up an additional injury to his wrist.
He will undergo surgery today (Friday, May 10) to rectify the injury. The length of time for recovery from surgery cannot be estimated ahead of the operation.
This is an untimely injury for Conrad in mid-season when he was starting to show real signs of his pace and potential in the MX2 class at world level and comfortably leading the MX2 class in the 2019 British Maxxis Motocross Championship.
The Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee Team are 100 per cent behind Conrad in his recovery and wish him a speedy recovery back to racing.
In the meantime, the Hitachi KTM fueled by Milwaukee will compete in Mantova this weekend with remaining rider Bas Vaessen and may be joined in the Team with a replacement rider from the MXGP series at Agueda onwards until Conrad can return.
Conrad Mewse: "What can I say after such a simple crash at Canada Heights. None the less, we are where we are and I see Friday is day one of my recovery. I promise that I am now more motivated than ever to come back to an even higher level to what I have been this year. I wish to thank my Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee Team for all the support that I have received. To all my well-wishers on social media, over the past week especially, I thank you one and all for your kind messages.
