Myles in front

Bradfords Myles Hutchinson, has literally grown up with Oset Bikes. Competing on the 12.5 model as a four-year-old, he is now eight and riding most days.

And Myles took part in the first ever Oset Cup on his little bike.

The original series was set up by Dave Horne who wanted his boys to have a fun competition to ride in and meet other like-minded families.

Since that day in 2011 the series has gone from strength to strength with Oset Cup events now popping-up all over the UK and further afield.

Getting the bug, Myles eventually upgraded to an Oset 16.0.

Myles' dad, Frazer admits: "We held off for longer than we should have really, before getting a bigger bike. I think we still saw him as really small when actually as soon as we put him on the Oset 16.0, his riding improved overnight.

"His body position was better, the power in the bike suited him more and while he's never been short in confidence to attack obstacles, the bigger wheel size, meant he was cleaning things that were simply too big for the smaller machine.”

In 2013 the then six-year-old ‘Hutchy' dominated the E-Class on his upgraded Oset 16.0, topping every event he contested.

Rocks, logs, streams, hill climbs,  drop-ins, gnarly tree roots, off-camber, loose shale... you could throw the kitchen sink at Myles and he'd just ride over it.

His achievements didn't go unnoticed and he was taken on as a supported rider by Colin Appleyard Motorcycles. Myles moved up to the 20.0 Lite for the 2014 season and as one of the youngest competing at national level he took the ACU British D-Class by the horns to finish an incredible fifth place.

Frazer added: "He was quickly ready for the bigger wheels but not tall enough for the longer frame. The Oset 20.0 Lite was the perfect intermediate bike.

"It suited his size and had the power to get him over the larger obstacles. It was ideal and he had a great year on the bike.

"But blink and the year was gone and so was our little boy – he had a big growth spurt. We chopped in the Oset 20.0 Lite and got him on the 20.0R model last summer ready for the 2015 season.

"It's been a steeper curve this time so we knew we'd made the right decision getting him on the bike sooner rather than later.

"He's been on and around the podium at every round of the ACU British Championship and has just secured first place at the Oset Cup North – D-Class Elite.”

As the older boys head up to C-Class next year, Myles ‘Hutchy' Hutchinson – who started riding a 12.5 in his back garden and came to the first ever Oset Cup for a bit of fun – is most definitely one to watch.
