Tony Cairoli to miss Mantova

MXGP champion Tony Cairoli has been speaking to Italian TV about his difficult season and during the conversation he said that he will not be racing at the next round of the FIM World Championship at Mantova.
This is surely a huge blow to Cairoli's ambitions of adding to his championship haul. The Red Bull KTM pilot had hoped he would miss just two events and he was on hand in Lommel to see if title rival Romain Febvre could seize the opportunity of his absence and claim maximum points. While Febvre did not have the pace to match Britain's Shaun Simpson in Belgium he still finished the race weekend on the podium.
Although there are still 200 championship points on offer Cairoli is now 131 behind Febvre and there are some doubts whether the Sicilian will be ready to make a return to racing in Assen one week later.
