KTM's Grand Prix forerunner, Max Nagl aboard his factory machine showed the competition how it should be done by taking a hard fought double win in the MX1 class at Langrish in Hampshire on Sunday 22nd March for round two of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship. He dominated race one winning by 21.31secs from Cedric Melotte on the CAS Hondawith Zach Osborne on the UTag Yamaha in third place. Defending Champion BillyMacKenzie had a fall at turn one leaving him down the order, but he fought backto finish in 12th place.
The second race win looked liked it was going toMacKenzie on the CAS Honda as he fended off Nagl's attentions. However on thefinal lap he took a tumble and rejoined to finish fifth giving Nagl his secondwin of the day.
Gareth Swanepoel on the Kawasaki finished second andOsborne took another third place. Championship leader Brad Anderson on the PARHonda finished both races in a steady fourth place but that was enough to keephim at the head of the standings. His nearest rival is MVR-D Suzuki's Carl Nunnwho is 11 points behind him.
Nagl said: "It was a great race and I hadmany fans. The second race was better and good training for the GPs. I am happyI won the second race. I had a hand injury until recently but that is ok now. Iwant to be top five or maybe the podium that is my aim for the year. I have beentraining hard and want to be consistent.”
Anderson said: "I knew thelads were going well here but I had to be consistent and that is what counts. The last time I was here I broke my collar bone so I had to put that behind me.The next round is Brampton which is my home round so I will have a few backersthere to push me on even more.”
