Its all change at the top of the MX1 class of the Scott Amateur Nationals after Rob Clitheroe dominated in vastly contrasting conditions at round three of the series at Hawkstone Park.

Split over Bank Holiday Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, the opening day was always going to be a war of attrition after heavy overnight rain turned a track that's super-tough at the best of times into a rutted nightmare. By Monday morning - following a serious evening grading session – the iconic track was in prime condition.

Sunday was all about digging deep and nutting up and after following two-stroke TM rider Alex Rach and Macauley Madden across the line in the opener Clitheroe dominated race two with a show of controlled aggression. With the weather taking a turn for the better on Monday the Lancashire rider took his YZF450 to a pair of wins to nail the overall.

Rach backed up his race one win with three second place finishes on the trot over the two days to just miss out on the overall with Madden bringing his KTM home in third.

James Lassu, series leader heading into the Shropshire sand, ended the weekend in fourth with a third in Monday's final race the high-point of the round for him.

The Yorkshire rider's gone from having an eight-point advantage to being 20 adrift with Dean Moor next on the calendar at the end of May.

Adam Wells remained unbeaten over both days, winning four from four despite tough opposition from Gav Houson, Lewis Meadows, Ryan Crowder and Brad Wheeler who took a moto second each. Of the four it was Wheeler who was most consistent for second overall with Meadows third.

With Wells not eligible for the championship it's Meadows who leads by 30 points from Houson with Wheeler third a further 10 points off the pace.
