Petar Petrov of the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team raced onto the podium in the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in preparation for seven GPs in the next nine weekends.

With so many Grand Prix riders based in the Netherlands or Belgium, the Dutch Masters of Motocross is a highly attractive national series, particularly in view of the fact that several rounds of the World Championship are organised on sandy circuits.

Petar Petrov rode two consistent races to earn third overall at the circuit of Mill just one week prior the GP of Latvia. The Bulgarian rider is now third in the standings, just two points from the second position with three more rounds to go.

Petar Petrov: "It was a good warm-up race before Latvia, and my speed was good in the Dutch sand. In the timed practice session I got the third position, and my start in the first moto was quite good; I felt pretty good in the sand to come back from seventh to third but by the time I got to third Anstie was too far away to try to catch him.

In the second moto my start was not quite so good, around tenth, but I pushed hard and I got to fifth really quickly but once I got there it was not so easy to keep pushing. Overall I felt OK, but I was not yet at my best as I felt like I was still struggling with the jet lag from all the trips we made in the last few weeks.”
