Ray's and Shane..

Motocross

RAY Rowson, on his PAR Homes Honda, was on fire at the weekend as he set fastest time in qualifying and then stormed to two unchallenged wins in the Open class at round four of the British MMX Championship at the rough and tough Hawkstone Park circuit in Shropshire.

But the PAR Homes Honda teams celebrations didn't stop there as in the Under 21 races, Shane Carless gave the team another two victories to shout about.
And in the Quad championship, Paul Winrow (Winrow Honda) tightened his grip on the crown by taking another overall win by finishing second in his first race, and sweeping past Yamaha-mounted Dutchman, Joe Maessen, to win the second.
It was obvious that the Salop club had put a tremendous amount of hard work into its ‘traditional' and excellent motocross circuit as it was as flat
as it could be, and very well watered, so dust was never going to be a problem.
There was a chill in the air on Saturday night which kept the babies' to a minimum, but a bright blue sky on Sunday morning greeted the teams, officials and the more hardy spectators as they got up for the bacon butties. A light shower, for an hour in the afternoon, spoiled things a little bit.

OPEN CLASS

THE writing was on the wall at the start of the first Open class race as Rowson got the holeshot with Neville Bradshaw almost alongside him as the disappeared into the trees for the first time.
The two riders came round at the end of the opening lap with Bradshaw chasing Rowson and that's how it remained for the rest of the race as Bradshaw did all be could to stay with the flying, on-form Rowson.
However, behind then it was all happening. Mark Hucklebridge was walking down the Hawkstone hill holding his arm after one lap and he took no further part in the meeting.
Brian MacKenzie was in third place, with Jordon Rose fourth, and an unwell series leader, Wayne Smith, fourth.
Rose crashed down to 36th on the next lap, giving up a place to Smith and Jody Smyth, with Lewis Gregory making his way up from eighth to sixth in two laps.

Joe Maessen finished second overall in the Quad class

At the halfway stage, Rowson had a seven-second lead over Bradshaw, with MacKenzie and Smith another seven-seconds back.
Gregory had made up one more place and was in fifth, with Smyth and Jim Murro following him.
With six-laps to go Smith caught and passed MacKenzie as Richard Lawson moved into eighth after being 26th on the opening lap.
Rowson crossed the finish line just over 12-seconds clear of Bradshaw, with a struggling Smith over half a minute behind.
Rowson got his second holeshot in race two with Bradshaw, once again, in his wheel-tracks as they sped off into the woods for the first time.
But, as they came round to complete the opening lap, Rose was in second and doing all he could to stay with Rowson.
Smith was fourth and MacKenzie fifth, and that was how it stayed to the flag, with Rose following Rowson over the line just under two-seconds behind him.
Bradshaw was another three-seconds back with Smith a lonesome fourth almost 40-seconds behind Bradshaw.
Gregory was sixth after being 11th on lap one, with Lawson seventh.
After the race, a happy Rowson said: "Two good rides. It can't get much better then this, but it was very hard towards the end.”
And a coughing and ill-looking Smith said: "I picked up a chest-infection in the week and spent Thursday and Friday in bed. I feel really weak, so third overall is a good piece of damage limitation!”
