Report: Evesham MCC rock at Shenberrow

Evesham Motorcycle Club got their 2016 club trial series underway on Sunday at a new venue, an old quarry at Shenberrow near Snowshill.

Heavy and persistent rain on Saturday had stopped by Sunday morning and the 43 riders arrived to fairly clear skies and even some sunshine to tackle nine sections with three routes.
On the A route after the first lap there was little to separate the top three, with Steve Harris and Guy Kenyon Bell on 10 and Chris Wickham on 11.
Guy had recovered after a bad start to the day saw him not only fiving the first section but breaking his chain in the process.
After the first lap, with the greasy top removed, the sections became a little easier and the marks lost dropped accordingly.
Steve Harris gradually opened up a lead on his challengers to win on 18 marks lost and after his hasty bike repairs Guy Kenyon Bell followed him home on 25, six ahead of Chris Wickham.
On the B route sections three and four caused most difficulties with threes and fives the order of the day for most of the entry and only Dean Basford and Steve Cook managing to clean either of them.
Tackled
These were also the only sections to trouble winner Dean Basford who lost all his seven marks here.
Steve Cook claimed the runner-up slot on 18, closely followd by Scott Brookes.
Two youth riders tackled the B route and Nathan Basford made it a family double by finishing clear of rival Sam Righton.
The C Route had been laid out cautiously due to the heavy rain the day before but with no further significantrain on the day the sections were easier to ride anticipated.
Richard Fowler and Steve Wallwin took full advantage and both managed to stay clean.
A couple of dabs left Steve Dowling in third on two.
In the youth class Jacob Jones was a clear winner on just four marks lost to head off Monty Rogers (31).

B Route
Adult: Dean Basford 7, Steve Cook 18, Scott Brookes 23, Lee Beaman 32, Mick Chapman 34, Stephen Price 36.
Youth: Nathan Basford 46, Sam Righton 63.
C Route
Adult: Richard Fowler 0, Steve Wallwin 0, Steve Dowling 2, Howard Taylor 5, Matthew Rudge 7,Chris Shawcross 17.
Youth: Jacob Jones 4, Monty Rogers 31, Tom Price 60.
